“On September 17th, 2010 – Madi, age 10, was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called Chondroblastic Osteosarcoma. On August 30th Madison was seen by an ENT in Fremont for what they thought was a Sinus Infection. Upon examination – the Dr. suspected that she had a tumor in her sinus cavity.
The same day – she went and had a CT scan done. The scan confirmed that she did have a mass in the frontal part of her head.
August 31st – an MRI was done.
September 2nd – Meeting with the Neurosurgeon. It was determined that the mass was NOT in her brain, but was in the sinus cavities and behind her eye causing pressure on her optic nerve, eye structure, eyeball and muscle.
September 3rd – Meeting with the Surgical Oncologist and the Neuro Opthamologist.
September 7th – a biopsy was done.
September 17th – the family received the news that the results of the biopsy showed the tumor to be a very rare form of cancer called Chondroblastic Osteosarcoma.
September 23rd – Chemo was started at Childrens Hospital in Omaha – this will last approximately 1 year.”

April 22, 2011 – Surgery Day! Madi’s surgery went well and she is currently recovering. Prayers are needed for strenght as her recovery will be painful. More radiation and chemo will follow.
Madie… a beautiful, strong and brave 10 year old. Life seems so unfair at times when I reflect on the battles some individuals/families/friends have to endure. Hug your loved ones, pray a little extra prayer tonight for Madi and thank God today for all the blessings in your life.
Meet Madi… (images taken April 20th – two days before surgery)
Her family who fight the fight right along side of her each day…
Jumping for joy… they have been through a lot. Time to celebrate the victories.
Walking towards the future of a life filled with happiness, joy and love.
