I have never been one to enter many contests or submit my images for critique, rewards or for fun prizes. However, when I reflect on my reasons why I do not do this it simply comes down to one word. Fear. As I approach 2012 I am learning to take more risks, step out of my comfort zone, put myself out there more and go for it! I found that no one else was holding me back except for me.
Chic Critique is having a fun cover contest and I thought the theme fit well with one of my favorite shots from 2011. The contest rules require the image to be vertical so I changed it from it’s original orientation. The theme is: Launch | to release, catapult, or send off. | To put into operation or set in motion. | To enter energetically. | To spring forward :take off. After reading those words I immediately thought of this image. It makes me think that someday I will be sending my children off into this big world to make it on their own, start their own journey and take off for whatever their hearts desire. That someday… I believe… will come way too soon!
